Two-dimensional material integrated micro-nano fiber, the new opportunity in all-optical signal processing

Abstract With the development of all-optical networks, devices have become a research hotspot in recent years. Two-dimensional materials, represented by graphene and black phosphorus, attracted great interest scientific community due to their excellent optical, electrical, magnetic, mechanical properties. Bridging gap between fiber optics nanotechnology, microfibers can interact with light matter at micro or even nanoscale. By combining two-dimensional materials microfibers, composite waveguides be formed. They advantages high nonlinear effect, all-fiber structure, damage threshold, etc. The waveguide directly applied optical communication systems, plays an important role field signal processing huge application prospect. In this review, properties typical 2D are first introduced. Next, preparation methods relevant equipments introduced compared. Then, technology based on material-integrated microfiber is reviewed. latest developments modulators, wavelength converters, logic gates thresholding presented. Finally, challenges opportunities for future materials-integrated optoelectronic summarized.
